Manufacturers put glaze finish to glazed porcelain tiles in the factory which is similar to usual glazed ceramic tiles. Glazed ceramic and porcelain tiles will have the same traits. These tiles are easy to maintain due to the extremely dense and non-porous glazed finish.
Glazed finish tiles never require re-polishing as these tiles retain their glazed finish for the life of the tiles. Glazed porcelain tiles hardly have any defect in them that make people want to polish them.
Factory polished porcelain tiles do require polish and manufacturers do it with industrial grade silicone carbide polishing machine. Professionals having stone restoration machines can use diamond pads for polishing softer stones like travertine, marble, and limestone.
One of the major issues with polished porcelain tiles is a hazy film like appearance over the surface. In most of the cases, the dark colored porcelain tiles were poorly manufactured with hazy appearance. It is always important to inspect your tiles before they are installed. Usually there is no warranty issued by manufacturers for installed tiles and you cannot convince any tile store to refund your amount once you have installed your tiles.
